Mir Masud-Elias
General Counsel
Mir is Convergent Research's General Counsel, responsible for legal, strategy, governance, and compliance across Convergent and its portfolio of FROs — from launch through transition.
She spent over a decade in-house at the University of Pennsylvania, most recently as Head of Legal at Penn's Abramson Cancer Center, where she built the legal function from the ground up, and before that spent more than ten years as a corporate lawyer at national firms. She joins Convergent from Arnold & Porter, where she advised research-focused nonprofits, universities, hospital systems, and life sciences and emerging companies on IP, licensing, and research collaborations, and other commercial transactions. Mir studied theoretical physics at CALTECH and English literature at Amherst College before her journey in law started at Columbia Law School. Intellectually restless by nature, Mir later added a Master's in bioethics from Penn with a certificate in social, cognitive, and affective neuroscience.
A life-long lover and supporter of the arts, Mir is also a poet who has performed her work in Philadelphia. Mir splits her time between Washington, DC, and rural Pennsylvania, generally with her two Silken Windhounds in tow.
