He is a recent PhD recipient from the lab of Bryan Roth at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied the pharmacology of G protein-coupled receptors, with a focus on opioid and serotonin receptors. He is a co-author of research publications in leading journals including Cell, Nature, and Nature Chemical Biology on topics including the structure of the hallucinogen-activated Gq-coupled 5-HT2a receptor, structure-based design of selective bitopic ligands for the μ-opioid receptor, and structure genomics of the human opioid receptor system. He is a co-inventor of the TRUPATH open-source biosensor platform for interrogating the GPCR transducerome. Jeff lives in Durham with his cat, Bokonon.
