The mission of Project CHI is to build field-wide standard machine-executable models of the human mind that explain the workings of the brain. These models will be used to drive transformative societal impact in mental health, education, economics, and other areas, as well as lead to the development of new AI prototypes that are more human-like and better for humans.
CHI-FRO is a nonprofit focused research organization (FRO)—initially incubated under Convergent Research and more recently through the Probabilistic Computing Foundation—that is building CHI’s modeling, testing, and evaluation platforms, and growing the broader open-source software (OSS) ecosystem needed to achieve Project CHI’s ambitious goals.
